A Baby Story

Well a little later than promised but here none the less is the story of our Gwennyth's big debut.

As directed I ate nothing past midnight the night before surgery (2/7) and in the morning among so many emotions of excitement and anticipation I was STARVING. I of course woke up extremely early as well so that didn't make it easier, especially having to feed both of my boys before we left AND have snacks ready for Hunter in the waiting room. I threw back a piece of gum and I managed. We were a little late leaving the house but that's nothing new. After we arrived at the hospital, and I did my best to update everyone on FB, we got our admitting paperwork and headed on up to Labor and Delivery. A WONDERFUL nurse hooked me up to the monitors and started the whole process. Little baby G didn't really like the monitors on my stomach so every chance she/he had it was kicked off. Oh and I might add that the somersaults were still happening at that time too. Our awesome nurse gave Zach his scrub/Beastie Boys suit for the OR and told him to get ready too. That was an amazing set of scrubs let me tell you. HA!

After waiting around 45 minutes very impatiently but still politely we headed down the hall to the OR. This part seemed to happen so fast. They told Zach to sit outside the room while they prep'd me. I didn't realize that he wouldn't be in the room until the baby was practically coming out. The nurse had me sit on the table and get ready for the anesthesia. I remember being hooked up to all of these machines suddenly and thinking "oh my word, where is my husband?" He really does keep me calm throughout these things and I didn't have him. I think the nurse realized that I was freaking out a bit when my heart rate started increasing. I am a total weenie when it comes to needles and the sheer thought of one going into my spine was completely wigging me out. I remember the anesthesiaologist started getting the area ready on my back and no one was in front of me to basically make sure I don't fall off the table and on to my face and that's when I really started getting woozy. I felt like I was going to pass out. My sweet nurse came quickly and grabbed ahold of me, helped me get into the "C" position and then all of the sudden "yaouch!" I twinged forward a bit and she held me down (thank you nurse). Next thing you know it, and really it was pretty much instantly, I couldn't feel my legs. I then remembered how much I hated that feeling. Yuck. I remember laying there and the sheet going up and Zach still not being beside me. Sigh. Then all of the sudden the nasty smell in the air was making me super nauseous. I looked over to my right and my man was walking in and sitting down at my head. Ahhhh, all was right in the world again. Yet still I wanted to vomit from that nasty smell, what was that smell? Oh yes, that was my skin burning with the tool they use to open you up. Oh joy, I was being BBQ'd. So gross. I tried to get past it and was successful. No throwing up for this girl, well at that point. Before the surgery had started they asked me if I wanted Daddy to be the one to announce the baby's gender and I said yes. So the smell of skin is in the air an before you know it they are saying that the baby has a full head of hair. I couldn't believe how fast this was all going. Then one of the nurses asked Zach if he was ready. Next I hear there is a sweet little cry and that's all it took for me to start crying, then I hear Zach say "it's a girl, we have a baby girl". Well then I really couldn't stop crying! I was just so excited that the baby was healthy, to what I new at the time, and it was just an added bonus that it was a girl. :) Then all I heard was that they were taking her to the NICU. Zach was sticking around with me and I asked him "what are you doing? Go with her!" He is so thoughtful in wanting to make sure that I'm ok and I knew the look in his eye when they were taking her out of the room so that was a big help for him. Because she was a scheduled C-section she didn't get the contractions of natural labor and getting the fluid out of her lungs.
The NICU held her for about 4 hours, which felt like forever. Zach would check on her and then come back and check on me. He is so amazing! I love him so. :) That's pretty much it too. We were reunited as a family and got to introduce Hunter to his new baby sister to whom he adores. He can be a little rough but that's just because of his age. He is always asking to hold her which I think is just adorable. I can't wait until they are old enough to play together.

Just a Quicky

This is our first family picture since our Gwennyth came into the world! Zach wanted to take Hunter to the beach so we said "why not?" packed up the bunch and headed out. I had to feed Gwen when we first got there so Hunter and Zach went on to meet everyone and Mom and I stayed in the car until Princess was done. :) When we walked up to the boys Hunter was half burried in the sand! He was loving it too, silly boy!

My last blog post...

...as a Momma of one!

I know I should be in bed getting as much rest as possible for tomorrow, but I find myself unable to sleep. Shocker! NOT. I'm so excited and yet so nervous at the same time. I know God has everything in control and the more I continue to remind myself that the better I feel about everything. It's so incredible the peace I get just from reminding myself the amazing power my Father has.

We have to be at the hospital at 8am tomorrow morning to get all set up and ready for surgery at 10am. The doc's say it should be a 30 minute surgery and then we'll have our sweet bebe! We can't wait! Zach and I are waiting to call and post until I get out of recovery and I can share in the process! I know, I'm a total stinker! I love to hear reactions though! :) We are also going to post when visitors are acceptable. For now I will say more than likely in the afternoon time so we can have some family time right away not to mention some much needed rest. I am going to do my best to keep everyone updated on Facebook in the morning and up until they wheel me into surgery.

Prayers are always accepted as well as requested! We can't wait to tell everyone if we have a Gwennyth Ann or a Grayson Michael! So until tomorrow my friends!

OH YEAH!

I almost forgot to post about the last Doc's appt! Silly pregnant lady! Everything went splendid. I was surprised however to not be checked for dilating. My mom and I were talking later that evening about it and we came to the conclusion that they didn't want to "stir" anything up. I mean, if it's already a scheduled c-section then why send the woman into labor by messin with things up there? I dunno, just a guess. Hunter was so excited to hear the baby again and so was Grammy! This was the first appt. she has been able to really go to (other than the US that we had when we got here). Listening to the wee one is always so much fun. I love hearing that little washing machine go! ha!

The doctor and I went over some of the pre-op stuff, signing waivers and what not in case something goes wrong, and then he sent me off with my prescriptions for after the bambino/a. Now we wait until Tuesday morning when we have to be at the hospital at 8am for check in and then surgery at 10am! He said it would be about a 30 minute surgery and then presto BABY! Don't worry we will be posting what the baby is once we are out of surgery. I just ask that everyone be patient and don't worry we will get the news out! Just know that by lunch time there will be a new little Stachurski in the world! Yay! Visitors are welcome later in the afternoon (lets say after 3pm) not to mention the next day. We're hoping to get out of there Thursday morning so if you would like to wait until we get home that's fine and dandy too. We are currently planning a baby shower so be ready for that! Might be looking like the beginning of March, we'll see.

Baby News and Misc

Well, last night we had some excitement. I was having terrible contractions! I mean, brought tears to my eyes, couch squeezing, having to remind myself to breathe contractions. Obviously we started timing them and once they hit the 30-45min marker they just fizzled out! What a buzz kill! It seems that this little one growing inside me LOVES to do this at night. I'm thinking it wants to be like it's big brother and have a nighttime birthday. I'm not sure if we will make it to Tuesday but then again, the baby is a Stachurski/Stevenson so stubbornness is definitely bred into this wee one. (I think that's why Missy and I were drawn to each other! ha!) Today I will take it easy and see how it goes.

I really don't have much else do now to prep for this little one. I was procrastinating on cleaning our old car seat in hopes to buy a new one. Still I know. I continually threw the thought of buying a new one back and forth in my noggin. I know it would be ridiculous to do especially if the child is anything like Hunter-man. By 6 months H was too long for the seat and we had to buy a "big boy" one so really why waste the money on a new one? It's my own pettiness that wants to. So Devil, I say back off and get out of my head! I'm NOT buying a new one! So THERE!

Oh! We filed our taxes a few weeks ago, lovely might I add, and just got the mulla in the bank! WOO HOO! Time for Lindsay to go buy her iPad! So stoked. We also get to pay off the rest of our car, which I am over the top thrilled about, and get rid of some ever so fun credit. I'm on cloud nine right now! I do have to admit, I see those wonderful digits and I can't help but start thinking what I can get as far as decor goes for our house. Then I remember that we don't have a house yet! Nor are we really close to buying one. I mean, yes, we are buying a house in San Diego but just haven't found one yet. I'm just excited about getting to decorate something that is OURS, not the Navy's but 100% (if you don't count the bank) ours. So excited. I was walking through Target yesterday looking at all of their wonderful home decor section (which has grown for the better at the Main St. location) and I found so many things I wanted to swipe up. Patience is something that I constantly am working on yet continually failing at so with this particular thing I am very proud that I walked out of there not purchasing a single thing for the hypothetical house we have.

Wow, I've really rambled on in this post haven't I?! I suppose I should stop now. I have some great pictures on our camera of lunch time with Daddy at the park so I'll get those uploaded and post them soon.

Last Dr's Appt.

Today, actually in a couple hours, I will be sitting in the doctors office for the last time as a giganto preggers (for this child anyway). So excited! I believe there will be an exam to see if I'm dilated at all (too which they did not do last time, surprising) and then it's all pre-op talk! Getting nervous and excited all at the same time. Can't wait to hear the baby again and I know Hunter can't wait either. I'll keep you posted!

Oh Hunter!

Our little man is so amazing. I could just stop this post there. He is!!! :) Right now I am sitting next to him as he is "swimming" in the tub. He is singing the ABC's to me and then went straight to "Happy Birthday". What a little character. I just can't express how much I love this little guy! He's growing up so fast, how can we stop that? Some amazingness that our little man does now:

*counts to 10 (he tries to go to 14 but skips 12 sometimes)
*Sings his ABC's
*Repeats pretty much everything you tell him and then remembers it, not always a
good thing when we aren't around little ear friendly people.
*He is so tactile! He tries to use a screwdriver correctly (man I'm in trouble)
*Speaks in sentences
*Asks for things correctly
*Says his please and thank yous
*He knows exactly what he wants to do and if you are involved he will come and lead you by saying "Mommy, hand. Go outside."

There are so many more things but as I mentioned before I'm right next to him in the tub and toys are starting to fling outside of the water. What a boy.

Quickly though I wanted to tell you all how excited he is over the new baby! I can't wait for this little one to come out and play. :) Right now he is very aware of the fact that the baby is "in Mommies belly". We told him yesterday that the baby will come out of my tummy in one week and his response was "No, Mommy. One hour." ha! I love the little things that he says. He also has a new big brother book, to which he loves to read all the time. He looks through the pages and says "Hunter push baby in stroller." and goes page by page telling us that Hunter is the big brother in the picture and explains what he's doing in each picture. Yes, he refers to himself in the third person now. I think it's hilarious!

Well that's all for now. Time to get the pruned child out of the bath.

The Heat is ON!

In exactly one week from today we will be welcoming Baby Stachurski into the world! That is, unless he/she comes sooner. The last couple of days I've felt like it could very well happen this week but as I type this my head is telling me, "nah, that little baby will wait the 7 more days before it makes it's debut." So here I am again, completely confused and thrown off by another baby! I couldn't tell you when Hunter was going to come. That little man really set up shop in there and I think he made it so comfy in there now his sibling doesn't want to leave! Maybe he left his bean bag chair and a lava lamp or something. Who knows.

This last weekend I have watched three friends, via facebook, welcome their little bundles into the world! It's just getting me so pumped to have this little one! AND they were all girls! I've had a couple of people tell me, "You're next and the rest of them were all girls!" Well, thanks...no pressure at all...ha! I only kid. I don't want to start thinkig "girl" because I don't want to have any emotions or thoughts of "a boy? another boy? but everyone is having girls?". I know how awesome boys are and how amazing it would be to have another little dude. I also know how amazing it would be to have a little girl. For those of you who are reading and don't know how I know about the awesomeness of baby girls I practically helped raise my two incredible older nieces. They rocked my world 8 and 7 years ago. It would be so much fun to have a little princess. Ok, here I go again. A bruiser boy would be freakin' fun too! Ahh! I could do this all day. Well, I do do this all day in my head! I need to just give it up and let it go. I only have 7 more days until I'm holding this little precious ball of goodness in my hands and ask it why it went ninja status in my uterus. That should be a fun conversation.

Anywho, I'm super stoked that it's only a week away! I already have the announcements picked out and I am starting to plan the baby shower/meet and greet! :) Any suggestions on themes? I'm all ears!!!

So many books!

So little free time!

I am currently reading:

What a great book so far! I would highly suggest it to all of my girlfriends. It's basically the chickies version of Wild At Heart (to which I definitely want to read because it would definitely help understand better how to raise up a man of God, thanks Elissa!). Zach had lead a study on Wild At Heart with his mens group while we were dating and suggested Captivating to me not too long ago. I'm not too far into it right now, but I am into it enough to know that I am really enjoying it.

There are so many books on my "To Read" list that it's insane. I'm trying to have the diligence to read all of them this year. (Special thanks to Krista for that one! You are inspiring!) So keep on me ladies! I need some accountability to keep me on my goal path. I am very excited that I am getting an iPad though! I think this will very much help with the middle of the night feedings that are in my near future. I had a friend tell me that it saves her for those feedings with her son and I thought that it would be a great idea! So once I get it and I am in that situation I will send a special thanks out to Uncle Sam for giving me back some mulla to buy one. :)

Okay, enough blabbering on. Time to get ready for the day before H-man wakes up!
